Wanted to wish comedy legend Mel Brooks a very happy 100th birthday. Few writers or directors have made me laugh as hard or as often. With such inspired lunacy of "Young Frankenstein", "The Producers", "Blazing Saddles", "High Anxiety", and "Spaceballs", his work has brought me (and generations of audiences) immeasurable joy.

He also co-created one of my favorite classic television shows, "Get Smart", and helped bring several remarkable dramatic films I love to the screen as a producer or executive producer, such as "The Elephant Man", "Frances”, "My Favorite Year”, and “The Fly".

A truly one-of-a-kind artist, wishing him many more happy, healthy years — and many more laughs.

You can read more about his life and career in my posts on "The Producers" and "Young Frankenstein". Just click on the titles to open the posts.

Wow! remarkable age of 100 it surely marks him among the rarest of Hollywood's Golden Age greats. I have seen Blazing Saddles many years ago, might be his best work. Belated birthday wishes MB.
